Premium Ingredients = Recipes that WOW
We know that when you are feeding the people you love, you want to give them the best. That’s why using the best ingredients in our recipes is so important to us. The things to focus on when making leprechaun bait are:
Good white chocolate. Quality chocolate not only has a better taste, it also melts more evenly for a smoother coating in your leprechaun bait recipe. We usually opt for Lindt or Ghiradelli.
Better-for-you Options
- Two ingredients in leprechaun bait are classic cereals that aren’t exactly known for being healthy. That being said, there are organic versions of both that you could swap in your leprechaun bait. Cascadian Farm and Three Wishes are brands with options you could consider.
- When it comes to the pretzels in this sweet snack mix, OMG! Pretzels has the better-for-you element covered. Our sourdough pretzel nuggets are authentically aged and are always GMO and artificial ingredient free.
How to Make Leprechaun Bait Snack Mix
Making leprechaun bait is super simple and can be done in a few steps. The hardest part - waiting for it to cool before you eat it!
Step 1: Prep your sheet pan and set it aside.
Step 2: Mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Be sure you’ll have enough space to mix the melted chocolate in when the time comes.
Step 3: Melt the chocolate. Doing it in the microwave is easy, but you could also do it in a double boiler if you prefer. PRO TIP: The coconut oil will make the white chocolate a bit more pliable and easier to work with, but beware - white chocolate dries more quickly than regular chocolate, so mix quickly during the next step.
Step 4: Pour the melted white chocolate over the mix of cereals and OMG! Pretzels .
Step 5: Gently stir, then transfer to the prepared sheet pan and spread into an even layer.
Step 6: Sprinkle extra chocolate candies (and sprinkles if you want) on top.
Step 7: Allow the leprechaun bait to harden before you break into pieces and serve.
Pretzel-tastic Leprechaun Bait Variations
When thinking about a leprechaun bait recipe, we kept it traditional using Salty Butterscotch OMG! Pretzels to pair best with the other ingredients. That being said, we always like to change things up, so here are some twists to try.
Spice it up! Add a hint of spice by using either our Sweet & Spicy or Sweet Chili pretzel nuggets in a batch of leprechaun bait. This could be a fun grown-up edition paired with a boozy shamrock shake or Guinness.
Prefer salty snacks? Add popcorn to the mix along with our Sweet & Salty sourdough pretzel nuggets to amp up the salt factor in your leprechaun bait. It’ll still be sweet overall, but these tweaks will definitely balance the flavors a bit more.
