Fondue and Pretzels

Pretzels & Cheese – 10 Perfect Pairings

What, cheese goes with pretzels? The answer to that question depends, of course, on which flavored pretzel you are using for your gourmet snack. And, since snacking is our specialty, we put together 10 pretzel and cheese matchups that will leave your tastebuds satisfied and impress your guests.

  1. Pretzels & Cheese Fondue: A perfect appetizer, cheese fondue is simple to put together but really gives a dinner party an elegant start. Melt grated Gruyere, minced garlic, a little dry mustard and a splash of wine or beer in a saucepan over low heat. Once combined and the cheese is gooey, transfer to a fondue pot. Serve with Chesapeake Spice OMG! Pretzels and a variety of fresh vegetables and apples for dipping.
  2. Mini Pretzel & Cheese Balls: These are great for an on-the-go snack or to serve at a get together. Plus, they are quick to make! In a small bowl, combine 8 oz. of room temperature goat cheese and 2 tbsp of honey. In a food processor, pulse shelled pistachios and Lemon Pepper OMG! Pretzels until they are combined, and the pieces are finely chopped. Using a 1 tbsp cookie scoop or a regular spoon, make small balls of the goat cheese-honey mixture and cover in the pistachio-pretzel crumb mixture. Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes before serving.
  3. Baked Brie with Pretzel Topping: Who doesn’t love baked brie? Here’s our spin on this classic cheese appetizer that makes the wheel of brie a bowl and pretzels the star of the show. Cut the top rind off of your wheel of brie and add 3 tbsp of fig jam to the center. Place it on a sheet pan and bake at 350 for about 7 minutes, until the cheese is warmed through. In a plastic bag, crush about ½ cup of Sweet Chili OMG! Pretzels, then add them to the top of the brie and bake for another 3 minutes. Serve with apple slices and Sweet Chili Pretzels on the side for dipping.
  4. Pretzel Crusted Mozzarella: Get the kids for this pretzel and cheese combo! Keep it simple by using string cheese pieces cut in half. Dip each piece of cheese in egg wash and finely crushed Garlic OMG! Pretzels. You can shallow fry them in canola oil or bake them on a sheet pan at 400 for 10 minutes until the pretzel crumbs are golden brown and the cheese is warm. Serve with jarred marinara sauce.
  5. Pretzel & Cheese Snackers: For a punch of protein and flavor, this pretzel and cheese snack can be easily prepped and packed for the week or just thrown together when you have a snack craving. Our favorite flavor combo for this snacker is Sweet & Spicy OMG! Pretzels with cubes of cheddar cheese and smoked almonds.
  6. Pretzel & Cheese Roll-Ups: Sliced cheese becomes the wrapper in this pretzel and cheese snack. Take a slice of provolone cheese, add a slice of salami, then place three Chesapeake Spice OMG! pretzel nuggets on top and roll it up! The roll-up is salty, crunchy, and chewy thanks to all its elements. You can also customize this flavored pretzel snack based on the cheeses and pretzels you have on hand.
  7. Pretzels & Queso: This is the ultimate happy hour snack! Take some help from the store with your favorite variety of queso, pop it in the microwave and grab a bag of Cheddar Jalapeno OMG! Pretzels for dipping. A cold beer or margarita transforms this pretzel and cheese snack into a party.
  8. Spanish-Inspired Cheese & Pretzel Plate: Take your mouth on a vacation to the coast of Spain with this simple but delicious cheese plate featuring Manchego cheese, olives, and Lemon Pepper OMG! Pretzels. Combined, these ingredients have the perfect notes of salt, citrus and spice.
  9. Baked Parmesan Garlic Pretzel Nuggets: If you love a crunchy snack, these are for you! All you need are Garlic OMG! Pretzels and some grated parmesan cheese. Place the pretzel nuggets on a sheet pan covered with parchment paper, then sprinkle parmesan cheese onto each one. Place in a 425-degree oven for 3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted onto the pretzel. Let them cool for 5 minutes and serve.
  10. Pretzel & Cheese Sweet Treat: Pretzel and cheese snacks don’t just have to be savory. Make a dessert snack with Sweet & Salty OMG! Pretzels paired with a cream cheese dip. The dip is simple to make – combine 8 oz. of room temperature cream cheese with 1 tbsp each of sugar and cinnamon. Serve with the pretzel nuggets for dipping and feel good about eating dessert in the afternoon!
